Characteristics

Shrub 0.4–2 m high. Leaves shortly petiolate, usually narrowly obovate-elliptic, discolorous; lamina 8–27 mm long, 1.5–6.5 mm wide; margins recurved, becoming revolute. Inflorescence erect to pendulous; involucral bracts 4 or rarely 6, ovate, 14–24 mm long, 6–14 mm wide, glabrous or subglabrous inside, sometimes ciliate. Flowers bisexual, glabrous inside, pale yellow or cream. Hypanthium not circumscissile, 12–18 mm long; ovary-portion with minute hairs, sometimes with a few long hairs at summit; style-portion 9–15 mm long, with a mixture of long spreading hairs and minute hairs in lower half, with antrorse hairs above. Sepals 3–5.5 mm long. Stamens usually shorter than sepals; filament 1.5–2.5 mm long; anther locules semi-latrorse to latrorse.
