Shrub 0.3–1.3 m high. Young stems densely hairy. Leaves opposite or alternate, shortly petiolate, concolorous, medium to dark green; lamina 4–18 mm long, 1–3 mm wide. Inflorescence erect, compact or rarely becoming elongate, many-flowered; involucral bracts 4–6, narrowly ovate or ovate, 5–12 mm long, 1.5–3 mm wide, leaf-like in colour. Flowers bisexual or very rarely female, densely hairy outside, glabrous inside. Hypanthium 7–12 mm long, circumscissile; style-portion 5.5–9 mm long. Sepals 5–6 mm long. Stamens subsessile in throat; anther locules introrse. Ovary distally hairy.
