Characteristics

Shrub 0.3–3.5 m high. Young stems densely white-hairy. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate, elliptic to circular or rarely narrowly elliptic, medium to dark green and glabrous on abaxial surface, very densely white-hairy abaxially; lamina 2–16 mm long, 2.5–12 mm wide. Inflorescence terminal, compact, many-flowered. Flowers bisexual or very rarely female, very densely hairy outside, glabrous inside or hairy inside hypanthium, usually white or cream, rarely pale pink. Hypanthium 6–10 mm long, circumscissile; style-portion 4.5–7.5 mm long. Sepals spreading, 2–4.5 mm long. Stamens inserted at base of sepals, shorter or longer than sepals; anther locules latrorse. Style exserted.
