Characteristics

Shrub 0.4–1 m high. Young stems densely hairy. Leaves alternate or sometimes subopposite, shortly petiolate, ±narrowly elliptic, with long white hairs on both surfaces when young, concolorous, silvery or medium green to dark bluish green; lamina 4–20 mm long, 1–5.5 mm wide. Inflorescence usually pendulous, compact, with 25 or more flowers; involucral bracts 6–12, ±narrowly ovate, usually 8–12 mm long and 2.5–4 mm wide, densely hairy, leaf-like in colour. Flowers bisexual or female, glabrous at extreme base outside, densely hairy above, cream to pale yellow. Hypanthium 11–14 mm long, circumscissile; ovary-portion with antrorse hairs; style-portion 8.5–11 mm long, with long and short spreading hairs outside, hairy inside. Sepals 2.5–4.5 mm long, glabrous inside. Stamens shorter than sepals; anther locules introrse. Ovary distally hairy.
