Characteristics

Shrub 0.3–1.2 m high. Stems glabrous. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate, narrowly elliptic or elliptic, glabrous, medium green, usually slightly paler on abaxial surface; lamina 7–20 mm long, 2–5 mm wide. Inflorescence usually pendulous, compact, many-flowered; involucral bracts in 2–4 pairs, ovate or elliptic, 10–17 mm long, 6.5–9 mm wide, thin, glabrous, pale green or yellow-green and sometimes partially or largely reddish. Flowers bisexual, white. Hypanthium 14–15 mm long, circumscissile, glabrous outside, hairy inside; style-portion 10–11 mm long. Sepals 3.5–4 mm long, sparsely hairy outside, glabrous inside. Stamens usually slightly longer than sepals; anther locules semi-latrose. Ovary distally hairy.
