Characteristics

Shrub 0.5–2 m high. Young stems densely hairy. Leaves alternate, shortly petiolate, narrowly to broadly elliptic, densely hairy, concolorous, pale silvery green; lamina 4–20 mm long, 2.5–9 mm wide. Inflorescence erect, compact, many-flowered; involucral bracts 6–12, broadly ovate or broadly elliptic, 5–13 mm long, 4–11.5 mm wide, usually hairier than leaves, silvery pale green or brownish. Flowers densely hairy outside, glabrous inside, white to yellow or pink. Hypanthium 5.5–8 mm long. Sepals spreading. Male flowers with medium-sized hairs; sepals 2–4 mm long; stamens inserted almost at base of sepals, subsessile in throat; anther locules introrse. Female flowers: hypanthium circumscissile, with hairs 5–8 mm long in proximal portion with much shorter hairs above; sepals 1.5–2 mm long; ovary distally hairy.
