Characteristics

Shrub usually 20–50 cm high, sometimes higher. Young stems densely hairy. Leaves alternate or opposite, shortly petiolate, narrowly ovate to elliptic, hairy on abaxial surface, glabrous adaxially, concolorous, medium green to dark bluish green; lamina 2–10 mm long, 0.8–3 mm wide. Inflorescence erect, compact, 3–18-flowered; involucral bracts 3–6, ovate or narrowly ovate, 3–9 mm long, 1.2–4 mm wide, hairy outside, glabrous inside, leaf-like in colour. Flowers bisexual, hairy outside, white. Hypanthium 5–7.5 mm long, with longer hairs below circumscission point than above; style-portion 3–5.5 mm long, sparsely hairy inside. Sepals 2–3.5 mm long, glabrous inside. Stamens shorter than sepals; anther locules introrse. Ovary distally hairy.
