Characteristics

Shrub 0.15–1 m high. Stems glabrous. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate, usually narrowly elliptic, glabrous, concolorous, medium green; lamina 5–20 mm long, 2–7 mm wide. Inflorescence erect, compact, many-flowered; involucral bracts 4, ovate or broadly ovate, 6–14 mm long, 4–10 mm wide, glabrous outside, sometimes hairy inside, medium green. Flowers bisexual, glabrous inside, white or pink (very rarely red). Hypanthium 10–16 mm long, circumscissile, glabrous at base, densely hairy above on outside, the longest hairs on ovary-portion; style-portion 7–12 mm long. Sepals 3–5 mm long. Stamens subsessile in throat; anther locules introrse. Ovary glabrous.
