Characteristics

Undershrub, cushion-like, usually 2–10 cm high. Young stems hairy. Leaves opposite, sessile, narrowly oblong-elliptic to elliptic, ciliate, with some intra-marginal hairs at first, glabrescent, concolorous, medium to dark green; lamina 1.5–4 mm long, 1–2 mm wide. Involucral bracts absent. Flowers unisexual or bisexual, solitary, terminal, white, hairy outside on sepals but not hypanthium, glabrous inside; hypanthium and sepals persistent; pedicel hairy. Bisexual flowers: hypanthium 2.2–3 mm; sepals to 2 mm long. Female flowers: hypanthium 1.5–1.7 mm long. sepals 1.2–1.4 mm long; ovary distally hairy. Fruit dry, enclosed.
