Characteristics

Shrub 0.3–1 m high. Leaves shortly petiolate, narrowly elliptic, disolorous; lamina 6–30 mm long, 1.5–5 mm wide; apex recurved. Inflorescence erect; involucral bracts 4, ovate, 8–19 mm long, 6–10.5 mm wide, glabrous inside, often ciliate. Flowers bisexual, glabrous inside, pale pink to red-purple. Hypanthium not circumscissile, 9.5–15 mm long; ovary-portion short-hairy, also with long hairs in distal part; style-portion 7–12 mm long, with a mixture of long spreading hairs and minute hairs in lower part and medium-sized antrorse hairs above. Sepals 2.5–4 mm long. Stamens usually distinctly shorter than sepals; filament 0.7–2 mm long; anther locules semi-latrorse to latrorse.
