Characteristics

Shrub 20–80 cm high. Young stems densely hairy. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate, elliptic or broadly elliptic, dark green and glabrous on adaxial surface, densely white-hairy abaxially; lamina 3–9 mm long, 2–6 mm wide. Inflorescence terminal, compact, many-flowered. Flowers bisexual or rarely female, densely hairy outside except at base, white or pink or of both colours. Hypanthium 5.5–7.5 mm long, circumscissile, partially hairy inside; style-portion 3.5–4.5 mm long. Sepals spreading, 2–3 mm long, glabrous inside. Stamens inserted at base of and shorter than sepals; anther locules semi-latrorse. Style exserted.
