Characteristics

Undershrub or shrub 30–80 cm high. Young stems densely hairy. Leaves shortly petiolate, ±narrowly elliptic, with appressed hairs, silvery or pale to medium green, often paler on abaxial surface. Inflorescence terminal, becoming elongate, usually 40–100 mm long at maturity, many-flowered. Flowers bisexual or female, with antrorse hairs outside, glabrous inside, yellow or pale yellow. Hypanthium 3–7.5 mm long, circumscissile; style-portion 1.5–4.5 mm long. Sepals erect, 0.5–1.5 mm long. Stamens inserted below sepals, subsessile in throat; anther locules introrse. Style not or scarcely exserted.
