Characteristics

Shrub usually 0.5–2 m high. Leaves shortly petiolate, very narrowly elliptic, flat, discolorous; lamina 11–42 mm long, 2–7 mm wide. Inflorescence erect or pendulous; involucral bracts 4 or 6, ovate, 16–30 mm long, 9–20 mm wide, sometimes partially hairy inside; inner bracts sometimes ciliate. Flowers bisexual or very rarely female, white, pale pink or pale yellow. Hypanthium not circumscissile, 13–19 mm long, glabrous inside; ovary-portion with minute antrorse hairs; style-portion 10–15 mm long, with a mixture of long spreading hairs and minute hairs in lower half and short antrorse hairs above. Sepals 4–6 mm long, hairy throughout or at base inside. Stamens exceeding sepals; filament 4–7 mm long; anther locules semi-latrorse to latrorse.
