Characteristics

Shrub 0.5–1.5 m high. Stems glabrous. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate, narrowly elliptic or linear, glabrous, concolorous, usually medium green; lamina 5–35 mm long, 1–4.5 mm wide. Inflorescence erect, compact, many-flowered; involucral bracts 4, ovate or broadly ovate, 5–13 mm long, 3–9 mm wide, glabrous outside, hairy inside, sometimes slightly ciliate, medium green and often partly yellowish or reddish. Flowers bisexual, densely antrorse-hairy outside, glabrous inside, creamy white to yellow. Hypanthium 7–12 mm long, with long deciduous hairs below circumscission point and shorter persistent hairs above; style-portion 5–9 mm long. Sepals 2–4 mm long. Stamens subsessile in throat; anther locules introrse. Ovary distally hairy.
