Characteristics

Shrub 15–60 cm high. Young stems hairy. Leaves alternate, shortly petiolate, elliptic or narrowly elliptic, densely hairy with the hairs of adaxial surface larger, concolorous, usually pale to medium grey-green or yellowish green; lamina 2–8 mm long, 0.8–3 mm wide. Inflorescence erect, compact, many-flowered; involucral bracts 8–18, narrowly ovate to almost linear, 4–10 mm long, 1–2 mm wide, densely hairy, leaf-like in colour. Flowers female or bisexual, densely hairy outside, white. Hypanthium 5–9.5 mm long; hairs long on ovary-portion but abruptly shorter above; style-portion 3–7 mm long, hairy inside. Sepals 1.5–3 mm long, glabrous inside. Stamens usually shorter than sepals; anther locules introrse or semi-latrorse. Ovary distally hairy.
