Characteristics

Shrub 0.5–1 m high. Stems glabrous. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate, elliptic or nearly so, glabrous, concolorous, bluish green or sometimes yellowish; lamina 9–21 mm long, 4–10 mm wide. Inflorescence pendulous, compact, many-flowered; involucral bracts usually in 4–7 pairs, ovate-elliptic to narrowly elliptic, 18–27 mm long, 6–17 mm wide, densely ciliate, otherwise glabrous or a few hairs inside on midrib, yellow, often partly green. Flowers bisexual, glabrous inside, yellow or yellowish green. Hypanthium 17.5–22 mm long, circumscissile, with mixed long and short hairs throughout; style-portion 14–19 mm long. Sepals 3.5–5.5 mm long. Stamens shorter than sepals; anther locules semi-latrorse. Ovary hairy throughout.
