Characteristics

Shrub 20–60 cm high. Stems glabrous. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate, ±narrowly elliptic, glabrous, medium green on adaxial surface, similar or paler abaxially; lamina 6–37 mm long, 1.5–10 mm wide. Inflorescence erect, often elongating, many-flowered; involucral bracts 9–11, narrowly ovate, 6–15 mm long, 1–4 mm wide, glabrous outside, hairy inside, ciliate at least towards base, cream at base, green above and sometimes purplish. Flowers bisexual, glabrous inside, white. Hypanthium usually 10–13 mm long, circumscissile; ovary-portion glabrous in basal half, with long antrorse hairs above; style-portion usually 8–11 mm long, with both medium-sized and minute hairs. Sepals 3–4.5 mm long. Stamens longer or shorter than sepals; anther locules semi-latrorse to latrorse. Ovary glabrous or rarely distally hairy.
