Characteristics

Undershrub 10–30 cm high. Young stems densely hairy. Leaves alternate to subopposite, shortly petiolate, ±elliptic, with antrorse hairs on abaxial surface and fewer finer hairs adaxially, concolorous, medium green; lamina usually 5–16 mm long, 2–5 mm wide. Inflorescence elongate and usually continuous at maturity, to 65 mm long, many-flowered. Flowers bisexual, covered outside by short white hairs and long brownish hairs, glabrous inside, brownish. Hypanthium 2.8–3.5 mm long, circumscissile; style-portion 1–1.5 mm long. Sepals erect, 0.8–1 mm long. Stamens inserted below sepals, subsessile in throat; anther locules latrorse. Style not or scarcely exserted.
