Cultivation

Origin: in northern California. Introd. in 1930. Chance seedling of Pistacia vera; discovered about 1902; tested at the U.S. Plant Introduction Sta., Chico, Calif. Nut: very small, being too small for commercial usage under present demands; inferior to Red Aleppo and Trabonella commercially and for home gardens. Tree: still some plantings in 1963, no known plantings 1996. Fruit:
