Soft shrublet, 0.4-1.2 m high; stems erect or decumbent, shortly pubescent, tufts of longer hair at nodes. Leaves petiolate, thin to thickish, texture slightly rugose, ovate to broadly ovate, 25-120 x 20-90 mm, base abruptly cuneate, apex obtuse to acute, somewhat decurrent on petiole, margins shallowly crenate; subglabrous to thinly pubescent, lower surface with honey-coloured gland dots. Inflorescence congested, rarely simple, rachis 50-180 mm long; verticillasters (2-)6-flowered. Flowers bluish purple to violet. Calyx up to 8 mm long when fruiting, glandular-hispidulous. Corolla 23-30 mm long; tube straight, almost parallel-sided; lower lip concave. Flowering time Mar.-May.
