Erect or spreading, soft shrub, 0.5-1.2 m high; freely branched; stems semi-succulent to somewhat woody, glandular-puberulous. Leaves petiolate, thin-textured, broadly ovate to ovate-deltoid, subglabrous to glandular-puberulous, base truncate to obtuse or shortly cuneate, apex acute, margins dentate, with few fairly large teeth. Inflorescence: rachis 50-120 mm long, simple or occasionally branched near base; verticillasters 2-6-flowered. Flowers mauve to pale blue, rarely white. Calyx up to 8 mm long when fruiting; subglabrous to puberulous. Corolla large, 13-30 mm long; tube deflexed, enlarged and markedly saccate at base, narrowing slightly towards throat; lower lip boat-shaped, horizontal or deflexed.
