Shrub 0.2–0.8 (–2) m high, not spinescent, with dense stellate pubescence sometimes overlain by long rusty hairs, on young stems, inflorescence axes and flowers. Leaves: lamina narrowly to very broadly obovate or obcordate, 6–11 mm long, 2–9.5 mm wide, base obtuse, entire, apex obtuse to emarginate, ± recurved; densely grey-stellate below, more sparsely so above; petiole 0.8–1.5 mm long; stipules filiform or subulate, 0.3–0.8 mm long, caducous. Inflorescence of cymose panicles with 3–15 flowers; bracts 0.6–0.9 mm long, usually deciduous. Pedicels 0.5–3.5 mm long. Flowers white to pale yellow or greenish; hypanthium tube 0.3–0.6 mm long, c. 1.2 mm in diameter. Sepals erect or spreading, 0.7–1.1 mm long. Petals 0.5–0.8 mm long. Stamens 0.5–0.7 mm long. Ovary inferior; style 0.5–1.1 mm long. Fruit grey or brown, 2.5–3.5 mm long; torus in the upper or middle third. Seeds 1.7–2.0 mm long, reddish brown.
Grows in heathlands and shrublands in sandy and gravelly soils, sometimes on sandstone and granite, particularly on lateritic rises and plateaux.
