Characteristics

Annual herb 90-230 mm tall, stems either simple or divaricately branched from the base, glandular-pubescent, hairs up to 0.25 mm long. Leaves: lower leaves 9-24 x 0.5-4 mm, linear to oblanceolate, with 1-3 pairs of teeth, both surfaces glandular-pubescent; upper leaves 6-30 x 0.25-1.5(-2) mm, linear to narrowly oblanceolate, either entire or with 1 pair of teeth. Flowers 1-5(-7) in lax terminal racemes, pedicels 0-0.5 mm long. Bracts 4-7.5 x 0.4-0.75 mm, adnate almost to top of calyx, linear, entire, glandular-pubescent on both surfaces, hairs up to 0.25 mm long. Calyx 4-6 mm long, anticous lip entire or shallowly lobed, posticous lobe 0.5-0.75 mm long, glandular-pubescent all over, hairs up to 0.25-0.3 mm long. Corolla tube 8-12(-25) x 0.75-1 mm, glabrous, limb 7-7.5(-13.5) mm across, lobes oblong-elliptic, posticous ones 2.5-5.5 x 1.25-2.5 mm, anticous one 2.5-3.5 x 1.5-4 mm, all lobes white to cream (or yellow?) with an orange-yellow patch at base of posticous lip and there well bearded, hairs often extending onto two lateral lobes, backs of lobes and tube sometimes flushed purplish. Stamens 4, anticous pair well exserted, anthers c. 0.75 mm long, posticous pair included, filaments decurrent to base of tube, anthers in mouth, c. 1.25 mm long. Stigma exserted. Capsules 3.5-4 x 3 mm Seeds many, c. 1 mm long, distinctly 3-winged.
