Characteristics

Annual herb 50-240 mm tall, stems simple or divaricately branched, glandular-pubescent, hairs up to 0.25 mm long. Leaves 9-38 x 0.4-2(-3.5) mm, linear to narrowly oblanceolate, entire or with up to 2(-4) pairs of teeth, both surfaces glandular-pubescent. Flowers up to 10 in small heads, lax in fruit, pedicels up to 0.5-1 mm long. Bracts 9-18 x 0.4-0.5 mm, linear, adnate nearly to top of calyx, glandular-pubescent on both surfaces, hairs up to 0.25 mm long. Calyx (5-)6-9 mm long, anticous lobes very short, posticous one c. 1-1.8 mm long, glandular-pubescent all over, hairs up to 0.25 mm long. Corolla tube 11.5-26 x 0.75-1.25 mm, glabrous to thinly puberulous, limb 10-13.5 mm across, lobes broadly elliptic, posticous ones (2.5-)3.5-5 x 2.5-3.5 mm, anticous one (2.5-)3.5-5 x (2-)34 mm, yellow, orange all round in throat and there well bearded. Stamens: anticous pair well exserted, anthers c. 1.25 mm long, posticous pair in throat, filaments decurrent to base, anthers c. 1.75 mm long. Stigma exserted. Capsules c. 4-5 x 3 mm Seeds many, c. 1 mm long, strongly 3-winged.
