Characteristics

A suberect to pendulous epiphytic or rarely lithophytic plant to 60 cm. or more long.. Stems (pseudobulbs) narrowly cylindrical to fusiform, superposed, given off from about the middle of previous growth, 5–23 cm. long, 0.3–0.4 cm. in diameter, acute, covered by deciduous leaf-bases when young, drying yellow and longitudinally ridged, 3–6-leaved in the apical half.. Leaves suberect, lanceolate, oblanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, 5–15 cm. long, 0.4–3.2 cm. wide, acute or subacute, largest leaves towards the apex.. Inflorescence terminal, paniculate, densely many-flowered, 3–8 cm. long, shorter than the 2 terminal leaves; peduncle terete, pubescent, to 3 cm. long; bracts lanceolate, acuminate, 1.5 mm. long.. Flowers minute, persistent after ovary has developed, cream or yellow-green, variously tinged with purple or completely mauve or purple.. Dorsal sepal elliptic, subacute, 2.2 mm. long, 1.4 mm. wide; lateral sepals obliquely ovate, subacute, 2.8 mm. long, 2.3 mm. wide, forming with the column-foot a 2 mm. long mentum.. Petals oblong-obovate, obtuse, 2 mm. long, 1 mm. wide.. Lip 3-lobed in the middle, shortly and broadly clawed, 2.3 mm. long, 2.5 mm. wide; side lobes suberect, somewhat oblong, curved forwards, shorter and much narrower than the mid-lobe; mid-lobe fleshy, rotund-subquadrate, obtuse.. Column terete, 1.5 mm. long.
More
Plants epiphytic, to more than 300 mm tall; pseudobulbs cylindrical, 80-160 x 2-5 mm, of numerous nodes, new pseudobulbs initiated half-way along the old pseudobulbs; lower 5 leaves reduced to sheaths, upper 3-5 leaves with thin, narrowly elliptic, acute, 70-100 x 15-30 mm blades. Inflorescences paniculate, pyramidal, 40-60 x 30-60 mm, branches to 30 mm long, densely many-flowered in the apical 2h; peduncles and rhachis pubescent; bracts triangular, acute, 3 mm long. Flowers yellowish-green to reddish, small. Sepals unequal, apiculate; median sepal narrowly triangulate, 3 x 1.8 mm; laterals obliquely triangular, 5 x 3 mm. Petals linear-lorate, acute, 3 x 0.6 mm. Lip 3-lobed, ecallose, 4.5 x 3.5 mm; midlobe or-bicular, apiculate, hinged, 2 mm in diameter; side lobes rounded, porrect, 1 mm tall; mentum coniªcal, 2.6 mm long. Capsules fusiform, 8x4 mm.
Plants epiphytic, up to 0.3 m high. Pseudobulbs 80-160 x 2-5 mm long with many nodes, Leaves 5 lower leaves reduced to sheathes, 3-5 upper leaves narrowly elliptic, acute, 7-100 x 15-30 mm. Inflorescence paniculate, 40-60 x 30-60 mm, branches up to 30 mm long, densely many-flowered. Flowers yellowish green, small. Sepals unequal, apiculate; median sepal narrowly triangulate, 3 x 1.8 mm; lateral sepals obliquely triangulate, 5 x 3 mm. Petals linear-lorate, acute, 3 x 0.6 mm. Lip 3-lobed, 4.5 x 3.5 mm, midlobe orbicular, apiculate, hinged, 2 mm in diam., side lobes rounded, porrect, 1 mm tall; mentum conical, 2.6 mm long. Flowering time Oct.-Jan.
Pseudobulbs superposed, the new ones arising from about the middle of the previous season’s pseudobulb, often hanging in long chains; each pseudobulb 5–23 cm × 3–6 mm, fusiform, ridged, covered in deciduous leaf bases when young, green or purple, drying yellow, 2–6-leaved.
Lip recurved, 2.3–3 × 2.5 mm, clawed at the base, 3-lobed in the middle; mid-lobe fleshy, 1.3–1.5 × 1.3–1.5 mm, rounded or subquadrate; side lobes suberect, shorter and narrower than the mid-lobe.
Epiphyte. Pseudobulbs or stems narrowly cylindrical, each one arising halfway along length of preceding one to form an elongated, frequently branching plant. Flowers yellowish green or reddish.
Leaves borne on apical half of the terminal growth, 5–15 × 0.4–3 cm, lanceolate, oblanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, acute or subacute.
Inflorescence usually paniculate, sometimes racemose; rhachis 3–8 cm long, densely many-flowered; peduncle up to 3 cm long, pubescent.
Dorsal sepal 2–2.4 × 1.4–2 mm, ovate; lateral sepals 2.8–3 × 2.3–3 mm, obliquely ovate, forming a rounded mentum 1.5–2 mm long.
Flowers very small, green or yellow-green tinged with purple, sometimes entirely deep purple.
