Characteristics

Plants forming large, robust clumps with numerous thick roots. Stems erect, 200–500 mm long, thick, branched from near base. Leaves numerous, strap-like, 150–300 × 40–50 mm, arching, leathery, deeply channelled, yellowish green, apex unequally notched. Panicles stiffly erect, 200–450 mm long, branched near apex, each branch 15–20-flowered. Flowers crowded in dense head, upward-facing, few open at once, 12–15 × 12–15 mm, green with cream or yellowish labellum. Sepals and petals widely spreading, fleshy. Dorsal sepal 6–8 × 2.5–3 mm. Lateral sepals 6–8 × 2.5–3 mm. Petals 5–6 × 2–2.5 mm. Labellum 4–5 × 3–4 mm; lateral lobes c. 1 × 3 mm, incurved; midlobe short, thick, fleshy, recurved; spur c. 4 mm long, pear-shaped.
