More
Herbs perennial. Roots robust, terete. Flowering stems erect or ascending, 15–40 cm tall, together with petioles white tomentose and sparsely villous. Radical leaves 2–10 cm including petiole; stipules brown, membranous, abaxially white pilose and pubescent; leaf blade palmately 5-foliolate; leaflets adaxially green, oblong-obovate, 1–3 × 0.5–1 cm, abaxially densely white tomentose, adaxially appressed pilose, base cuneate, margin revolute, proximally entire, distally irregularly 2–5-serrate on each side; cauline leaves many, resembling radical ones but petioles becoming shorter higher up stem, uppermost leaves sessile; stipules green, ovate-lanceolate, herbaceous, abaxially densely white tomentose, apex acuminate, entire or 2-or 3-dentate. Inflorescence corymbose-cymose or paniculate-cymose, laxly many flowered. Flowers ca. 1 cm in diam.; pedicel 1.5–2.5 cm, tomentose. Sepals triangular-ovate, apex acute to acuminate; epicalyx segments oblong-lanceolate, shorter than sepals, abaxially canescent tomentose and villous, apex acute. Petals yellow, obovate, slightly longer than sepals, apex emarginate. Style subterminal, base thickened and papillate; stigma dilated. Achenes smooth or slightly rugose. Fl. and fr. May–Aug.
Ascending to erect perennial herb up to c. 50 cm tall, with branches arising from a stout, woody stock; stems ± woody, brown to reddish purple, white-tomentose. Lvs both basal and cauline; petiole up to 20-(55) mm long, pilose; blade reniform, palmate; leaflets usually 5, oblanceolate to obovate, sessile, (5)-8-16-(24) × 3-15 mm, dark green to greyish and usually glabrate to sparsely hairy, rarely moderately hairy above, densely white-to grey-tomentose below; margins recurved, with 1-3 pairs of teeth in upper 1/2, sometimes ± pinnatifid; upper cauline lvs becoming ± sessile, smaller and often finally 3-fid; stipules lanceolate, white-tomentose below, acuminate and sometimes with 1-(2) teeth. Fls in diffuse, terminal cymes, 5-merous. Epicalyx segments subulate, 1.5-3 mm long, acute, entire. Sepals ovate-triangular, = or slightly > epicalyx segments, sparsely to densely tomentose, connate at base. Petals broadly obovate, 2-4-(5) mm long, yellow, very shallowly emarginate or rounded. Style filiform-conic. Achenes ± smooth or slightly reticulate, not winged, 0.7-1 mm long.
Perennial, freely branched, depressed or ascending, 1–5 dm; lvs digitate, the larger with 5 lfls, these linear-oblanceolate to narrowly obovate, 1.5–3(–5) cm, silvery-tomentose beneath, long-cuneate and entire at base, bearing above the middle 2–4 oblong or linear teeth with revolute margins; fls yellow, 7–10 mm wide; pet and sep subequal; anthers 0.5 mm; achenes nearly smooth; 2n=14, 28, 42.
