Plants 100–300 mm tall. Free part of leaf to 120 × 2–5mm, stiff. Spike 30–100 mm long, 5–14-flowered. Ovary sessile. Flowers sometimes remain closed, widely spaced, unscented, 5.5–7.5 × 3–4 mm, green to brownish, labellum whitish to greenish, callus green. Dorsal sepal 4–5 × 2 mm, decurved. Lateral sepals fused or partially free, erect behind labellum, each sepal 4–5 × 1 mm. Petals 3.5–4 × 1 mm, spreading to upswept, blunt. Labellum shortly stalked, ovate to elliptical, tip sharply recurved, 3–4 × 2–2.3 mm, margins flat. Callus raised, fleshy, extending nearly to labellum apex.
Localised, but often common; found growing in alpine feldmark and subalpine herbfield, sedgeland, buttongrass moorland and grassy areas in woodland dominated by Tasmanian Snow Gum (Eucalyptus coccifera) in freely draining, skeletal soil and stony soil derived from dolerite.
