Characteristics

Plants 150–350 mm tall. Free part of leaf to 120 × 2–4 mm. Spike 30–50 mm long, 5–12-flowered. Ovary shortly stalked, green. Flowers widely spaced, lightly scented, 8–10 × 7–9 mm, greenish to greenish brown, petals white and red, labellum white, callus greenish yellow. Dorsal sepal 4–5 × 2.5 mm, decurved. Lateral sepals fused or free and widely divergent, each sepal 5.5–6.5 × 1.5 mm. Petals 5–6 × 1–1.5 mm, incurved to widely spreading, blunt. Labellum sessile, oblong-elliptic, sharply recurved near middle, 5.5–6.5 × 3–3.5 mm, papillate, distal margins folded and wavy/crinkled. Callus raised, ending just beyond labellum bend, apex minutely papillate, notched.

Known only from the type locality where it grows among rushes, sedges and grasses in dense low scrub in damp to moist stony clay loam. The prevailing climate is abnormally cold and equivalent to subalpine conditions.
