Plants 200–40 tall. Free part of leaf to 150 x 3–5mm. Spike 50–10 long, 10–20-flowered. Ovary sessile, bright green, rarely dark red. Flowers moderately crowded, scented, 10–13 x 7–9mm, opening widely, mainly light reddish-brown, rarely dark red, labellum reddish-brown, callus green, rarely red. Dorsal sepal 7–9 x 3mm, recurved, with three darker veins. Lateral sepals fused or free, 7–9 x 1.5–2mm, nearly parallel, erect and recurved. Petals upswept, 7–9 x 1–1.2mm, spreading. Labellum shortly stalked, ovate-lanceolate, 6–8 x 3.5–4mm, sharply recurved near middle, base broad, then constricted, tapered and tail-like, margins irregular. Callus thick-textured, raised, fleshy, strongly wrinkled, extending as tail-like section nearly to labellum apex.
