Characteristics

Plants 250–35  tall. Free part of leaf to 200 x 3–5mm. Spike 70–12  long, 5–20-flowered. Ovary shortly-stalked, green, shiny. Flowers moderately crowded, 12–14 x 8–11mm, scented, greenish with pink to red markings, labellum white or pink, callus green. Dorsal sepal 5.5–6.5 x 4.5–5mm, decurved. Lateral sepals free or partially united, 7.5–8 x 2.5mm, obliquely erect, nearly straight, parallel. Petals 5.5–6 x 1.8mm, porrect, blunt. Labellum shortly stalked, ovate, 5–6 x 4–4.5mm, sharply recurved near middle, margins slightly crinkled. Callus shiny, prominently raised, ending just beyond labellum bend.

Highly localised and uncommon to rare, growing among tussock grasses, sedges and forbs in low herbfield near streams on alpine plains and meadows in moisture-retentive loam, less commonly in subalpine forests.
