Characteristics

Plants 300–80  tall. Free part of leaf to 150 x 4–6mm. Spike 60–10  long, 8–35-flowered. Ovary shortly stalked, green, shiny. Flowers usually well spaced, lightly to strongly scented, 13–17 x 9–12mm, greenish-brown or pinkish-brown, petals wholly pink, pink with white tip or white with brownish band, labellum white or pink, callus green or yellowish-green. Dorsal sepal 8–11 x 3.5–4mm, incurved to decurved. Lateral sepals free, 8–10 x 2mm, obliquely erect, widely divergent, pointed. Petals 7–9 x 1.2–1.5mm, incurved to divergent, pointed. Labellum shortly stalked, oblong-lanceolate, 9–12 x 4.5mm, base slightly humped, sharply recurved near middle, distal part almost touching basal part and protruding through lateral sepals, margins wavy/crinkled. Callus narrow, grooved, ending just past labellum bend.

Widespread but disjunct, growing on slopes and ridges in dry woodland dominated by peppermint box and grey box in clay loam; also in heathy woodland and heath in sandy soils.
