Characteristics

Plants150–25  tall. Free part of leaf to 100 x 2–4mm. Spike 50–10  long, 5–20-flowered. Ovary sessile. Flowers moderately crowded, strongly scented, 5.5–7 x 4–5mm, green or yellowish-green with some reddish or brownish markings, labellum cream to pink, callus green. Dorsal sepal 4–5 x 2–2.3mm, decurved. Lateral sepals erect, free or fused at base, each sepal 2–3 x 1–1.2mm, recurved, nearly parallel. Petals 3–4 x 1–1.5mm, incurved to spreading. Labellum sessile or very shortly stalked, ovate-lanceolate, , 3–4 x 2–2.3mm, sharply reflexed near middle then erect, margins entire or slightly irregular. Callus broad, fleshy, shiny, very thick, extending nearly to labellum apex.

Highly localised, disjunct and restricted to a few small relict populations on basalt plains W of Melbourne, growing with forbs in open grassland and grassy woodland in freely draining to moisture-retentive red-brown or black balsaltic loam.
