Small brittle-stemmed erect or scandent shrub or “contorted bush” 1–3 m. tall, fragrant; stems slender, grey or purplish grey, glabrous or pubescent.. Leaf-blades fragrant, ovate to oblong, 1.2–6 cm. long, 0.8–3.4 cm. wide, acuminate at the apex, rounded at the base, thin, entire to coarsely 1–3-dentate on either side, almost lobed, ± glabrous but obscurely minutely glandular or with hairs at base of costa beneath, with only 2 main nerves on either side; petiole very slender, 0.2–1 cm. long, mostly sparsely puberulous to densely pubescent.. Inflorescences small, terminal but often overtopped by leaf pair from lower node, 1–1.5 cm. long, 1–3 cm. wide; peduncles 0.5–2 cm. long, slightly puberulous; pedicels up to 3 mm. long in fruit; bracts oblong to lanceolate, 2–3 mm. long.. Calyx 1.5–2 mm. long, slightly lobed, glabrous, obscurely glandular.. Corolla white; tube 2.5 mm. long; largest lobe 1.5 mm. long..
