Shrub, small bushy tree or subscandent, 1–3.6(–4.2) m.; branches slender, at first pale and with very scattered or denser pubescence, later dark grey, glabrous, with longitudinally peeling often whitish epidermis, sometimes nodular with very much reduced lateral branches.. Leaf-blades elliptic, rounded-ovate or lanceolate, 0.5–8 cm. long, 0.4–4 cm. wide, obtuse to subacute or bluntly acuminate at the apex, rounded to ± cuneate or subcordate at the base, entire to very obscurely or less often distinctly lobed, glabrous to very shortly pubescent, minutely glandular punctate and with scattered yellowish glands; petiole 0.4–1.2 cm. long, pubescent and glandular..
