Leaves forming a rosette; petiole narrowly winged, nearly as long as to shorter than leaf blade; leaf blade oblong-obovate to oblanceolate, 3--17 X 1--2 cm, submembranous when dry, abaxially densely cream-white farinose, base cuneate-attenuate, margin remotely denticulate, apex subrounded to obtuse. Scapes 4.5--30 cm, scarcely farinose toward apex; umbels 2--30-flowered; bracts linear-lanceolate to subulate, 3--6 mm. Pedicel 1--2 cm, sparingly white farinose or glandular. Flowers heterostylous. Calyx campanulate, 5--7 mm, glandular or sparingly white farinose outside, densely farinose inside, parted usually slightly below middle; lobes triangular, apex acute, midvein obscure. Corolla bluish purple or pale purple; tube (7--)8--10 mm; limb ca. 1.5 cm wide; lobes broadly obovate, 5--8 mm, deeply emarginate. Pin flowers: stamens ca. 2.5 mm above base of corolla tube; style ca. 6 mm. Thrum flowers: stamens ca. 7 mm above base of corolla tube; style ca. 1.5 mm. Capsule subglobose, slightly shorter than calyx. Fl. May-Jul. 2n = 16@.
