Characteristics

Herbs perennial. Leaves forming a rosette; petiole 1/3--1/2 as long as leaf blade, broadly winged; leaf blade obovate-elliptic to oblanceolate, 10--20 X 3--5 cm, tapering to base, margin irregularly denticulate, apex rounded. Scapes 20--45 cm, efarinose; umbels 2--4, superimposed, 6--10-flowered; bracts linear, 1--2 cm. Pedicel 1.5--3(--4) cm. Flowers homostylous. Calyx campanulate, 5--7 mm, yellow farinose inside, parted 1/3 to near middle; lobes triangular, apex acuminate. Corolla purple; tube 9--10 mm; limb ca. 1.5 cm wide; lobes oblong, ca. 5 mm, margin crenate-serrate, apex emarginate. Stamens ca. 7 mm above base of corolla tube; style reaching base of anthers. Capsule globose, nearly as long as calyx. Fl. Jun-Jul. 2n = 22@.
