Suffrutex up to 60 cm high with simple, densely pubescent to tomentose or villous stems (subsp. argyrea), or small tree up to 3 m with young stems tomentose and older stems with flaking greyish or blackish bark (subsp. >i>zambiana).
Leaves up to 14(14.4) × 4 cm, elliptic or narrowly elliptic to lanceolate, cuneate at the base and obtuse to rounded at the apex, subglabrous or with sparse long white hairs or villous with long appressed hairs, sometimes glaucous.
Perianth base villous outside except in lowermost part and glabrous inside except in uppermost part; claw villous outside, villous to glabrous inside; limb 11–20 mm long, villous.
Flowers 4–4.5 cm long, white.
Heads 8–11(12) cm diameter.
Style hairy at the base.
