Characteristics

Middle bracts 1.4–2.2 × 0.6–0.9 cm, obtuse to rounded, glabrous or sparsely appressed-pubescent, pink; inner bracts (2.5)3–4.5 × 0.2–0.5 cm, linear, usually longitudinally inrolled, often shorter than the flowers or sometimes equalling them, indumentum and colour as for middle bracts.

Perianth base glabrous; claw glabrous or with very few short white hairs near the lower margin inside; limb 8–12 mm long, with sparse long appressed hairs on the three fused segments and with a tuft of hairs at the apex.
Leaves (2)3–6(6.7) × 0.1–0.5 cm, 11–35 times as long as broad, falcate, linear to linear-oblanceolate, cuneate, acute to subacute, glabrous, with veins inconspicuous.
Suffrutex with several prostrate simple stems up to 60 cm long radiating from a woody rootstock, the leaves and flowering heads all projecting upwards.
Heads (3)4.5–8(9) cm diameter (to fully extended inner bracts).
Flowers 3–4.5 cm long, pink.
Stems glabrous.
