Suffrutex with several erect simple stems 15-35(-50) cm. or rarely with 1-2 branches (particularly after damage).. Stems thinly to densely covered with long hairs, these often stiffly spreading in Tanzania but usually flexuous and deflexed in Malawi.. Leaves narrowly oblong or narrowly elliptic or narrowly lanceolate to linear-elliptic or linear, (2.5-)4-7 × (0.3-)0.4-1.5(-2.5) cm., (2.5-)3-11 times as long as broad, cuneate to rounded at the base, acute to rounded at the apex, loosely appressed-pubescent with flexuous or geniculate hairs.. Heads 3-4.5 cm. in diameter.. Middle bracts 0.8-1.5 × (0.5-)0.7-l(-1.3) cm., obtuse to rounded, appressed pubescent or glabrescent in patches or occasionally glabrescent all over, brown; inner bracts (l-)1.5-2.5 × 0.3-0.6(-0.8) cm., ± equalling the flowers.. Flowers 1.5-2 cm., white or pink Perianth villous outside except on the lower part of the base and the fourth segment of the limb, glabrous inside except for a few short hairs on the margin of the junction of base and claw; limb 5-6 mm.. Style glabrous.
