Perianth base glabrous; claw glabrous except for short pubescence at margin near base inside; limb 15–20 mm long, with rusty-brown hairs near tip and occasionally lower down when young, usually rapidly glabrescent.
Leaves 6–10(12) × (2.2)2.5–4(4.5) cm, mostly 2–3 times as long as broad, broadly elliptic to obovate or oblanceolate, rounded to cuneate at the base, leathery, glabrous, sometimes shiny.
Young stems glabrous or slightly pubescent in parts, smooth and often shiny, later developing fissures and flaking off.
Round-topped, widely branched bushy tree up to 7 m high with trunk up to 40 cm thick.
Flowers 5–6 cm long, creamy-white.
Heads 8–12 cm diameter.
Style glabrous.
