Middle bracts 2–3.3 × 0.6–1.3 cm, acute to subobtuse, glabrous except for the ciliate margin or (in Angola) appressed-pubescent with whitish hairs; inner bracts (4)5–7 × 0.3–0.7 cm, linear, usually longitudinally inrolled, clearly exceeding the flowers, resembling the middle bracts in indumentum.
Leaves 4–10 × 0.3–2.1 cm, (3.5)4.5–25(40) times as long as broad, linear or linear-elliptic to lanceolate, cuneate to rounded at the base, acute to subobtuse, glabrous or with sparse irregular hairs particularly at the margin.
Suffrutex with several horizontal, sometimes prostrate, simple stems up to 30(40) cm long radiating from a woody rootstock, the leaves and flowering heads all projecting upwards.
Stems smooth, glabrous or with long irregular spreading or appressed hairs.
Flowers 3–4(5) cm long, white (or sometimes pink in Angola).
Heads 8–12 cm diameter, borne obliquely at the stem apex.
Style glabrous.
