Cultivation

Origin: in Merced, Calif., by Guido Bandoni. Introd. in 1974. 3490; 19 Feb. 1974; assigned to Bright’s Nursery, Le Grand, Calif. Parentage unknown, discovered in 1965. Nut: 1 3/8 inches in length, elongated, plump; shell soft, well-sealed, straw colored; kernel 13/6 inch in length, 9/17 inch in width, 5/16 inch average thickness; harvest late September, easy to harvest and hull; kernels uniform, free of defects, sweet, 100% singles, kernel averages 63.2% of the nut. Tree: large, stocky, dense, compact, vigorous, hardy, heavy and consistent productivity, no tendency to drop blossoms, no limb breakage. Very subject to noninfectious bud-failure. Fruit:
