Origin: in Chico, Calif., by Frederick R. Wells. Introd. in 1971. 3046; 13 Apr. 1971, assigned to Sierra Gold Nursery, Yuba City, Calif. Unknown seedling. Discovered in 1967. Nut: 1 12 inches in length; elongated; paper shell; kernel light tan, flavor sweet, 72% of nut; date of harvest midseason. Tree: size medium, vigorous, dense in growth with abundant foliage; leaves more glossy and larger than Nonpareil; blooms 2 days before Nonpareil. Tree subject to low-productivity syndrome. Fruit:
