Hatch in 1879 from open-pollinated seed thought to be from the Languedoc region of France. Bloom: 5–7 days before Nonpareil and thus susceptible to frost. Nut: large nut with well-sealed paper shell and harvest 14 days after Nonpareil. Kernel: large, often with a high percentage of doubles.
