Cultivation

Origin: in Prosser, Wash., by the Washington Agr. Expt. Sta. and the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture; Introd. in 1957. Open­pollinated seedling of Riland; selected in 1950. Tree: vigorous; upright-spreading; productive; hardy to-19 F; self-unfruitful, not cross­pollinated by Riland. Fruit: size medium, with equal halves; flesh orange-yellow, firm, texture fine, flavor good; soluble solids and acid content comparable to Blenheim; freestone; about 60% of skin covered with an attractive red blush over a yellow ground color; matures about 1 week before Riland.
