Cultivation

Origin: in Harrow, Ontario, Canada, by Richard E.C. Layne, Agr/Canada Res. Sta. Harrow Res. Sta., Agr. Canada. Introd. in 1982. V51092 [(Reliable × o.p.) × o.p.] × Sun Glo. Selected in 1975; tested as HW 425. Tree: hardy, productive, late blooming; good resistance to bacterial spot, brown rot, and perennial canker (Leucostoma spp.). Recommended for fresh market and home processing in Ontario. Fruit: resembles Harlayne; size medium; orange skin, with 20% blush, firm orange flesh; freestone; good fresh and processed quality; skin resistant to cracking; ripens 5 days after Veecot, 26 July in Harrow.
