Cultivation

Origin: in Ottawa, Ont., Canada, by Canada Dept. Agr. Res. Sta. Introd. in 1937. Sandcherry (Prunus besseyi) × P. salicina 'Burbank', selected in 1935; tested as Ottawa 302. Tree: extremely hardy; bushy; early bearing. Fruit: good size and quality for a plum of this type; characteristics intermediate between parents.
