Cultivation

Origin: in GlenEden, Auckland, New Zealand, on the property of a Mr. Billington. Introd. there about 1922; propagation rights acquired by Hayward Wright. Chance seedling; parentage unknown; selected about 1919. Tree: bearing habit very irregular. Fruit: size medium; round, flattened at stem end, apex round with slight depression, halves somewhat unequal; stem of medium length; skin smooth, dark purplish-red, with heavy white bloom; flesh dark red, firm, juicy, flavor and quality good, clingstone; holds well; season end of December into January in New Zealand.
