Cultivation

Origin: in Fresno, Calif., by John M. Garabedian, Peters and Garabedian, at the Peach and Willow Ranch. Introd. in 1964. Plant patent 2324; 3 Dec. 1963; assigned to Peach & Willow Farms, Fresno. Open-pollinated seedling of a bud mutation of Santa Rosa. Tree: large; slightly more than Santa Rosa; upright-spreading; very productive; bears regularly; blooms during mid-to late season. Fruit: size medium, uniform; skin red nearly overspreading a bright yellow ground color, bloom light gray, medium texture, medium thickness; flesh yellow shading to orange-red near pit, firm, slightly acid, eating quality excellent; clingstone; size medium; ripens 10 days before Santa Rosa, which it resembles.
